Title:After
Author:Morris Gleitzman
Main character: Felix
Text type:fiction

Synopsis: You know when your living in a  hole and your
not used to hearing anyone except for the one who takes
care of you and then one day you hear other people and
your scared that the person that is taking care of you is in
trouble so you try to save them but you make it worse.
Well that’s what’s happening to felix. This is a book of
adventure, heartbreak and friendship. It is about a young
boy who is trying survive in the war also known as the holocaust.

My  favorite character is Felix because he is brave and
resilient and has lots of courage. He tries to look on the
bright side of life even when times are really hard. For
example, when he found his mum was still alive he was
happy until she died but to make him feel better he became
a medical assistant to help the weak.

I infer that the author chose After as the title because
this is what happened during and after  the war  and
after he almost lost everything. I also found that at the
beginning of each chapter was the word after.

My least favorite characters are the Nazis because they
are the ones who started the war. I also don’t like them
because they killed the Jewish people in concentration camps.

An interesting relationship in the text is: Felix and doctor
zajak because they both have an interest in medication
and health. Another interesting relationship in the text
would be between gabrik and the leader because they
can both be very stubborn at times. Also a connection
between me and felix would be that we can both hide
our emotions for safety plus we also
both jewish.

I chose this book because when I read once and then
I wanted to found out what happened in after. I found
it interesting because the main character is a little
Jewish boy(felix) he is probably the bravest boy in
the world.this is a sad, disgusting, happy, serious,
weird and confusing book.

Some of the themes and BIG ideas in this book is love,
determination, friendship, adventure and kindness for
example the friendship between one of the partisans
( I forgot her name ) and gabrik is so strong you could
even call it love.

If I were to compare Morris Gleitzman with another author
it would probably be R.L Stine  because they both like to
use descriptive language. Another thing they have in
common is they both have a knack for
making a scary / sad story come to life.
